Elon Musk donates nearly $75M to Trump’s presidential campaign
Billionaire Elon Musk has contributed close to $75 million to a political action committee (PAC) he established to back Donald Trump's U.S. presidential campaign, according to recent filings. This marks Musk's growing support for the Republican cause.
Trump often references Musk in his speeches and has pledged to appoint him to a committee aimed at reducing government red tape. Current polls show Trump and Harris in a tight race for the presidency.
Between July 1 and September 30, Musk’s America PAC raised $74.95 million for Trump’s campaign, as per filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The PAC has focused on mobilizing voters in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, which could be pivotal in determining the election outcome.
America PAC offers $30 per hour, with performance bonuses, to volunteers assisting with voter turnout efforts. Earlier, Musk had promised $47 to anyone who convinces a swing-state voter to sign a petition supporting free speech and the right to bear arms.
Meanwhile, Harris’s primary PAC, the Harris Victory Fund, raised $633 million during the same period. Since joining the presidential race after President Joe Biden’s withdrawal, Harris has energized the Democratic base, concentrating her efforts on battleground states. Her PAC’s total year-to-date receipts stand at $931.2 million.
