Kaduna Electric Condemns Police Officer for Assaulting KAEDCO Staff in Viral Video
The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) has denounced the actions of a police officer featured in a viral video assaulting a KAEDCO employee. Inspector Aminu Yahaya Bidda, assigned to the Tudun Wada Police Station in Kaduna, was recorded on video brandishing a knife and threatening KAEDCO officials.
KAEDCO has officially reported the incident to the state police command, requesting the arrest, investigation, and prosecution of Inspector Bidda for assault, attempted murder, harassment, and intimidation of its staff. The company has also requested that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a comprehensive investigation and has urged the police commissioner to ensure the safety of its employees.
In a statement from Abdulazeez Abdullahi, KAEDCO's Head of Corporate Communications, the company condemned the officer’s actions as unlawful and detrimental to the state's fragile peace. Abdullahi highlighted that the officer’s behavior breached legal and police conduct standards and affirmed the company's intention to seek appropriate administrative and legal actions.
The incident occurred when Inspector Bidda allegedly "viciously attacked" KAEDCO staff performing a routine inspection of his prepaid meter at his residence on Rimaye Road, Hayin Danmani. Investigations revealed that the officer had only purchased electricity twice this year.
