FRSC Advocates Regular Vehicles Maintenance to Prevent Auto Crash That Claims Lives on Highway

It is essential for vehicle owners to ensure that their vehicles are in good mechanical condition to prevent accident that leads to loss of lives and property.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Oyo State Command, Mrs Rosemary Alo stated this while speaking to our Correspondent at the spot of the multiple auto crash that claimed many lives in Ibadan, Oyo State capital yesterday.

Mrs. Alo seized the opportunity to advise vehicle owners to always ensure that their vehicles are in good mechanical condition to prevent accident because the auto crash occurred due to break failure of the heavy duty vehicle that carried iron roofing sheets that rammed into many vehicles.

She said 17 corpses have been confirmed dead so far while 16 passengers were receiving medical treatment.

Also speaking, the driver of Micra taxi, Mr. Bashir Lawal, who survived the tragic accident expressed gratitude to God for sparing his live and others urged  both federal and state governments to put in place towing vehicles, fire service centres and ambulance vehicles at strategic places for rescue operation purposes to safe lives whenever accident occur.

Illegal miners responsible for Ibadan explosion, says Makinde

  The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has criticized  illegal miners for the explosion that rocked the Bodija area of Ibadan, the state capital on Tuesday. Makinde, who visited the scene of the explosion Tuesday night, said preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed that the explosion caused by explosive devices stored by illegal miners. He also said though investigations were still ongoing, anyone found culpable would be brought to book. “Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast.
