Two Gunmen, One Inspector, Three Others Wiped-out In Aba Police Attack
A police inspector named Shehu Oyibo, affiliated with the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and three civilians were killed when gunmen attacked a police patrol team on Mosque Street by Ngwa Road in Aba, Abia State.
This incident comes three weeks after gunmen killed two policemen at Opobo Junction, Ogbor Hill, Aba.
ASP Maureen Chinaka, Police Public Relations Officer of Abia State Command, confirmed that two gunmen were killed in the attack while others escaped with bullet wounds. Eyewitnesses reported that more people might have been injured or killed.
The bodies have been taken to a morgue in the city. ASP Chinaka stated that around 11:28 a.m. on July 21, 2024, police operatives on patrol were attacked by armed men in an ash-colored Sienna vehicle. The police repelled the attack, killing two assailants, but unfortunately, Inspector Shehu Oyibo and three civilians were killed.
The PPRO urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activities or individuals
