Discharge all appointees in security sector – Rep tells Tinubu

Abdulsamad Dasuki, a member of the House of Representatives, has encouraged President Bola Tinubu to dismiss all his appointees in the security sector due to their failure to meet the expectations of Nigerians. Dasuki made this call during a debate on a motion condemning the recent suicide bombing in Borno State, which was sponsored by Ahmed Jaha. In his observation, Dasuki pressed that the President had appointed several northerners to address insecurity in the North, but they have not succeeded in their roles. Former Husband Of Ex-Minister Diezani Madueke Asks Court To Stop Her From Using His Name

  Retired Rear Admiral Alison Madueke has petitioned the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere to stop his ex-wife, former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke, from using his surname. He requested the court to order Diezani to revert to her maiden name, Agama, arguing that her continued use of his surname amid corruption allegations could harm his reputation and lead to mistaken liability. The couple married in 1999 and separated in 2015. Diezani filed for divorce in 2021, which was granted in 2022. Despite the dissolution, Diezani continues to use his name, which Madueke finds embarrassing. He instructed his lawyers to request Diezani to stop using his name, but she has not complied. Tyla Shines At BET Awards With Two Wins

At the 2024 BET Awards held at Los Angeles’s Peacock Theater on Sunday night, Tems emerged the only Nigerian winner. Her song "Me & U" triumphed in the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award category, beating renowned gospel artists like Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, and Maverick City. However,, her fellow Nigerian artists faced tough competition. Ayra Starr and Asake were bested by South Africa's Tyla for the Best International Act award, with Starr also losing the Best New Artist category to Tyla and the BET Her award to Victoria Monét. Seyi Vibez missed out on the Best New International Act to South Africa’s Makhadzi. Over and above that, Burna Boy was defeated in two major categories, losing the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist to Usher and the Best Hip-hop Artist to Kendrick Lamar.
