SOMALIA: Eighteen Al-Shabab Militants Executed

Eighteen Al-Shabab terrorists were executed Sunday in Galkayo town of Mudug, the Puntland State of Somalia, after being sentenced to death earlier by the court.

The men were lined up next to a sand hill outside the town of Galkayo. Security forces facing them opened fire, executing them. Also, three other men were put to death in Garowe and Qardho town by firing squad. 

 Chairperson of Puntland state court Mohamud Abdi Mohamed said their court proceedings followed through different stages before the execution.

"Puntland State Court of Armed Forces executed 18 Al-Shabab terrorists this morning. These convicts were all behind the killings of many of our important people here. The court took the right action against them," Mohamed said.

Protest Erupts in Abuja Over Demolition of Homes by FCT Minister Wike

  Residents of Ruga, a settlement along Airport Road in Abuja, staged a protest on Friday against the demolition of their homes by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. The demolition was part of the minister’s initiative, *Operation Sweep*, aimed at clearing areas within the capital deemed as nuisances and hotspots for criminal activities. The protest was led by prominent lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju, alongside Vincent Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMark. They accused Wike of carrying out the demolitions with malicious intent, claiming the task force destroyed numerous homes and property worth millions of naira. Adeyanju expressed concern for the displaced residents, many of whom had fled conflict zones in northern Nigeria, including Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
