Group Demand Sacking Of FCMB Managing Director, Adam Nuru Over Marriage Scandal

The Group, known as ‘Justice for Tunde Thomas’ has formerly started a petition on change.org to the CBN, FCMB Board, and others, calling for Mr. Nuru’s dismissal over alleged marriage wrongdoing. About 1,500 persons have signed the said petition.

The deceased husband has been identified as Tunde Thomas, the husband of Moyo Thomas, a staff member of FCMB, who Nuru was alleged to have had a romantic affair with.

Thomas reportedly died of depression on December 16, 2020, after he discovered that Mr Nuru allegedly fathered their two children and not him, as a result of the affair. Tunde was buried 30th December 2020.

Mrs Thomas resigned from FCMB and travelled to the US with the two children, seemingly on holiday and trying to file for asylum in the US on the ground of marital violence in Nigeria.

Tunde got home from work in the night of 15th December only to collapse by his staircase and die immediately. Autopsy report puts the cause of death as heart failure.

Illegal miners responsible for Ibadan explosion, says Makinde

  The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has criticized  illegal miners for the explosion that rocked the Bodija area of Ibadan, the state capital on Tuesday. Makinde, who visited the scene of the explosion Tuesday night, said preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed that the explosion caused by explosive devices stored by illegal miners. He also said though investigations were still ongoing, anyone found culpable would be brought to book. “Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book,” he said. AGF Suggests Ban on Presidential Pardons for Corrupt Leaders

  Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) has proposed a constitutional amendment to prevent presidential pardons for corrupt leaders. Announced at an ICPC roundtable in Abuja, the amendment aims to exclude corruption cases from the prerogative of mercy. The roundtable, supported by the MacArthur Foundation, brought together legal and civil society stakeholders to enhance anti-corruption efforts. Fagbemi emphasized that the amendment, to be pursued in the next constitutional review, is essential for ensuring corrupt leaders face full legal consequences.
