American Mechanic Arrested For Impairing Plane

An American Airlines mechanic appeared in federal court Friday on a sabotage charge accusing him of disabling a navigation system on a flight with 150 people aboard before it was scheduled to take off from Miami International Airport on 17th July 2019.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Miami federal court: Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani, 60, a veteran employee, was upset over delayed union contract negotiations.
Flight No. 2834 was aborted and taken out of service for routine maintenance , the ADM system was uncovered during an inspection. An American Airline mechanic found a loosely connected tube in front of the nose gear underneath the cockpit that had been deliberately blocked with object like hard foam material.
Court records from a lawsuit in California reveal that , Alani was previously fired by Alaska Airlines in 2008 after several mistakes. The Federal Aviation Administration suspended his mechanic’s certificate for 30 days, according to court documents.
